Stomboli

The men in my house love stromboli! As you can see in the photo, I generally braid the dough rather than rolling  it only because that is the way as was taught. For a more traditional stomboli simply shape dough into a rectangle, sprinkle with fillings, and roll into a log.  What filling you say? ANYTHING!  The photo is of cooked diced chicken, bacon bits, diced steamed broccoli, and cheddar cheese. The favourite in our house is a supreme pizza style with pepperoni, ham, green pepper, onion, mozzarella, and tomato sauce.  My sister, Sarah, makes a Mexican version with taco meat, salsa, onion, and cheddar. A friend makes hers with ham, cheese, and mayo. The possibilities with leftovers are endless!
